How to Use Your Gaming Gear to Work or Study From Home

With a lot of people switching to working or attending classes from home, we've seen a lot of people sharing how their gear is suddenly being used for more than just gaming. Here are our favorites.

With schools and offices closed, tons of students and employees (us included) are fulltime working from home for the first time.

Skip taking calls and typing on your laptop, and simply plug in your gaming headphones, mouse, mousepad, and keyboard wherever you can.

If you're short on USBs, pick up a handy USB hub to turn 1 USB port into several.

One of our top recommendations would be the Arctis 1 Wireless, since it work wirelessly on virtually all of your devices. If you're on a budget, the wired Arctis 1 is a great choice too.

Don't underestimate the power of quiet to help you focus.

If you're stuck at home with siblings, kids, or someone who just won't stop vacuuming right now, consider using your headphones to just help you focus. Any music without lyrics is my go-to for focusing (looking at you, lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to).

If you really want to get in the zone, turn on the audio visualizer to match your music. (Or use it to measure how loud someone is speaking in that Zoom/Skype/Slack meeting. Hey, I get bored.)

If your headset has Bluetooth capability (like the Arctis 3 Bluetooth or Arctis Pro Wireless), connect it to your phone so you can chat with grandma while still connected to your music, game, or work.

It's important to get some fresh air and move around, especially if home and work are suddenly the same place. Regardless of which wireless headset you choose, going wireless is one of the biggest quality-of-life updates if you're working or attending school from home. We can't recommend it more.

Things you can do during a work call when not wired to your desk:

  • Use the restroom
  • Wash your hands
  • Grab a snack or drink
  • Pace around your room or house
  • Step outside and experience the weather
  • Chase your pet/child around
  • Spin around in your chair
  • Lay down

I'm not saying that RGB increases productivity. Buuuuut....

Tell me you wouldn't work or study better starting your day with that aesthetic.

Everyone's situation is a little bit different, so it's super exciting to see people using their gaming headsets in more unique ways:

Speaking of unique ways to use your gaming gear...

I guess it's better than a lot of other things you could send.

Stay strong folks!
